About us

The beginnings of the company

After graduating from Glasgow university Veterinary School Andrew Bennett, the founder of the Best Friends Group, began his veterinary career at the Broadway Veterinary Clinic in Peterborough.

Broadway Surgery

Broadway Surgery

After working at the Peterborough clinic for nine months, Andrew decided to relocate and work in his home county of Essex.

Two years later Andrew returned back to Peterborough after seizing the opportunity to purchase the Broadway Veterinary clinic in October 1991. This became the first surgery of the Best Friends Group. After a lot of hard work the surgery was expanded in February 1992 and converted into a hospital and therefore awarded 'Hospital Status' by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Employment

Broadway Surgery

The Broadway Veterinary Clinic employed two veterinary surgeons and four veterinary nurses when it opened under new management in 1991. Today the group employs over 200 members of staff and is ever increasing with the continual growth of the company.

The company now employs several veterinary surgeons who are studying towards Ophthalmology, Cardiology, exotic and Orthopaedic veterinary certificates.

Our future vets and nurses

"Keep investment in the future of the industry very much in mind."

Broadway Veterinary Hospital is a tier 3 small animal veterinary hospital, regularly inspected by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons so clients can be sure that our facilities, skills and services are delivered to the highest standard.

The group consists of multiple RCVS approved training practices to allow student veterinary nurses to undertake their training to allow them to qualify as a registered veterinary nurse.

The group provides these students with financial support, transport, supervised practical session's and one to one training with a qualified veterinary surgeon or nurse.

Without these approved training centres, student nurses would be unable to fulfil their chosen career as a veterinary nurse.
